BSOD with Westell usb modem

XP home worked fine with ethernet connection....had to change ISP and now have USB Westell/Fujitsu ADSL WAN modem and get BSOD more or less every other re-boot.XP home 2002 service pack 1. BSOD is irql_not_less_or_equal. Stop 0x000....A, 0x0000..., 0x0000..2, 0x000..1,ox804ec915. Rebooting without the usb connected is ok, but have problems getting network connectivity if I then plug in the USB as the modem seems to be training and times out. Did restore to previous and re-installed drivers that came with the modem and still get BSOD. The install readme does say "You may receive a message regarding compatibility issue with Windows XP, press ‘Continue
Anyway’ to proceed ". As I've done the install twice I can only think there's a driver problem..help.... I've just cancelled with my old ISP 'cos I get BTconnect for free and it works ok on my work pc running win2K professional.

Well for starters who is your DSL provider such as Verizon etc. and second what is the make and model of the modem, should be on the bottom as illustrated here...

Model is a 36R305....there's a rev D sticker in the right hand corner. I'm in the UK so the DSL ( ISP here) is BT aka British Telecom operating the BT Openworld service.

Things I would look at is to check the device manager ( from the system option in the control panel) and look for yellow exclamation marks and right click on them and choose 'update driver'

Call BT's support, everyone hates to call support, but you're paying for their service so you may as well get your money's worth. Plus their probably able to fix things the quickest. I had to call support to get my DSL running when their stoopid installer program wouldn't work and they sorted it out very quickly and competently.

Also dsl reports is a good resource for all things dsl and they have a forum specificly on UK DSL as well as one on Westell Modems just as a doctor is going to refer you to a specialist, I would refer you there.

Before contacting BT you should make sure all your windows updates have been done, that is the first thing they will ask you to do.

Secondly the irql bsod is more associated with the NIC... you mention you have a network, what nic do you have?
