    Post hardware malfunction in XP

Hi, i have a big problem with XP, let me explain to you and see if someone can help me.

    I own a hybrid PC
    PIII 1GHz
    CUV4X motherboard
    512 MB SDRAM kingstone(2x256)
    Soundblaster live value OEM
ASUS V7700 Deluxe 32 MB DDR
    Dazzle DCV2
    creative DVD 1241E
    Yamaha CDRW x8 x4 x24 internal IDE
20 gig HD seagate and 20 gig HD Maxtor

and my problem is that sometimes while using XP pro, i have that blue screen pop up and tell me :
"Hardware malfunction, please contact your hardware vendor".

I tried everything, remove RAM, remove DVC2 change sound card and so on ...Even go to the BIOS setting to disable virus checking and PnP OS but seems that nothing can do.

So if anybody got an idea about that matter please help cause i like XP and want to keep it on my PC.

PS : all drivers i have are certified by microsoft
    detonator 21.83

    Than in advance

    Jay

It their anything else stated on the Blue Screen, such as error codes of filenames?

Check teh Event Viewer for the Red Stop sign and see waht details are listed there.

nothing in tech event and there's nothing else on the screen. just BLUE and "your computer has halted", after that, have to reboot , it's the only way. And also, the PC loose all previous informations about what happened.

Yes, I know this is a very old thread, but I came across it while searching for something else.

Anyway, just as a matter of interest, I had the exact same thing happen to me yesterday with a clients computer. Just a blue screen with "Hardware malfunction, please contact your hardware vendor". (xp home).

It did that 5 or 6 times and then just refused to post. Turned out to be a dead Duron 1.2GHz. Had me scratching my head for a while cause all I was doing was installing a modem driver.

Ouch, hope you didn't get the blame for that.

No thankfully the customer had already reported that same error message prior to bringing it in.

I once had a conflict with a version of the Nvidia drivers and a Dlink 530TX or 538TX NIC card. I would suggest checking in the Device Manager for anything that looks weird once you get it to boot. Took me over a week to track it down so I thought this would be worth a shot. As the machine in question had the ASUS V7700 Delux 64meg video card. I beleive I am running the 38.03 nividia drivers now without issue.
