XP keeps restarting
Have an XP box here that wont boot, gets as far as the black winXP logo then just restarts, same place everytime. Heres what I've tried so far:
Replace RAM
Replace CPU
Remove all PCI cards
Reset BIOS
Repair XP from CD
The final option gave me a blue screen (just after selecting reinstall windows XP) with :
"A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down .....
PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart ...... "
This screams hardware at me and the only thing left is the mobo, or should I try a format? specs below:
AMD XP2000
Gigabyte GA-7VKMP
DDR 256 - 266
Maxtor 40Gb
Geforce 4 64Mb

What about the Power Supply ? Sounds like that could be your issue.

Could be the HDD failing as well.

Flabooble!
Can you boot to safe mode? If so look for something in the startup.
Otherwise Start here:

I think Tekboy was closest, continued to fiddle and it came up on the scandisk screen eventually. Let this run (which took about an hour), it repaired a couple of things and the beast started itself no worries. Still need to continue testing before i let the customer loose on it again!

I agree that it sounds like the power supply is either going bad or not powerful enough.
had the same problems on my first k7 board that I built. Power supply wasnt strong enough and was getting the exact same issues that you are describing. Put in a basic 300W and bam, everything was fine.
If its not broke, then upgrade anyways!
Who ever said computers were logical?

I had the same problem with my windows 98 machine. Finally when i replaced the processor it worked allright.
one more question. I wanted to install celeron 2 GHz in my Pc which originally conatained a 1.6GHz. Pentium 4 processor which went dead. But after I replaced the processor with the above celeron it does not boot. when i switched on the PC it gave a low frequency constant beeps with blank screen. My motherboard has intel 845 chipset.but it works well with another pentium 4 1.5Ghz. processor.
what may be the reason?

Driver Terrier
Celeron support bios flash would be in order srinipkweb. Depending on your motherboard, the bios may not believe that celerons go to 2ghz
Never, ever approach a computer saying or even thinking "I will just do this quickly."
