    Question

Is it a Diamond one? If so, what model?

    Thumbs down

    Oy!

S3 Savage 4!! Never again. I have a S3 Savage4 32mb 2x agp card. Some generic manufacturer: Palit or Daytona. REAL REAL pain. I loaded Windows ME and the 3d aand directdraw features no longer work. Is there any hope? What is a good video card that has tv/vcr features?

i have the same chipset. there is a fix for this problem that was posted here awhile ago. What i did was remove my sound and modem from the machine, installed the video driver, but before rebooting unchecked use automatic settings in device manager. that froze the settings and forced the other dievices to choose different resources, and that fixed the problem. Did it in both ME and Win98se.

We have had serious problems with some no-name no-FCC-ID# generic OEM S3 Savage4 AGP cards. I finally contacted the vendor of the clone boxes and the vendor pointed me towards Pine as the manufacturer. The cards are still quite pathetic for 32MB AGP cards, but they work much better with the manufacturers drivers. No lock ups. No banding on the screen. The Pine card are ugly green things with a metalic green heat sink on the processor. There are no tracable identifying markings anywhere on the card. I'm not surprised. If I were the manufacturer I wouldn't be too proud of this item.
