Brought up as a boy by his father, he opts to wear nappies to school rather than use female toilets.
    What's up with that????
Yeah, I'd say that "messed up" is an understatement.

Odd. Seems there should be an age of consent for this. If you want to mark you body with ink or pierce it with steel you need to be a certain age but if you want to change your gender surgicaly and chemicaly then it's OK?

I mean, how do you begin to know what you are at age 13? I know that humans begin to feel attraction at 11+ to whatever sex they will usually remain attracted to but come on.

"To do it to a 13-year-old who is still in formation, whose body is still forming, whose sense of identity is still forming, it's just irresponsible."
    I agree.

Even sexual preferrence can't be defined until one reaches adulthood.

Starting the transition at such an early age, even if the "irreversible testosterone treatment" scheduled for when she's 16, is downright criminal.

In essence, what we are seeing here is the epitome of the "child-king" syndrome, where what a kid wants, a kid gets.

But this isn't just a tattoo - this is a very different kind of "permanent" and I don't see how a child of that age can be allowed to make such a decision.

I think that since the state is he/r legal guardian, and they are the ones making the case for the changes, that is how they are getting around the age of consent. I guess it would be considered the same as if your parent signed the waiver for you to get a tatoo. My aunt did this for my cousin. The thing I do not understand is why the state is fighting for the changes?

I also would like to know just WTF the father did to mess up the kid that bad that s/he grew up as a boy, when there was soooo much evidence to the contrary.

If your aunt had a set of balls, she would cease to be your aunt...

Chuck Barris claims in his "unauthorized autobiography" that his mother raised him as a little girl until he was 7 or so and look how well he turned out.

I'm a millionaire trapped in a poor persons body. Maybe I can get the government to give me a million.

I'd like to add to my previous post. Bruce Lee ended up learning how to beat the sh*t out of people for a living. Maybe it isn't such a good idea.

The welfare department, as legal guardian, will pay for Alex's treatment.
Besides all the moral stuff a couple of people have already brought up, I can't believe this statement. I would be ticked if I found out that my taxes paid for some kid's sex change operation...
