    Duh, what's a thumbscrew?

This one came into the shop today - it was either owned / stolen by someone who could not understand the concept of thumbscrews. Keyboard, mouse, and USB all just pop out, why is the monitor and printer being so hard? I guess I should pull harder!

If you look closely, you can see where the printer port was ripped in half. VGA is a lost cause, as is the motherboard. The back coverplate was also destroyed from this display of brute force. Hulk smash!

Amazing what ten seconds of examination could save some people.

Got a call from a regular customer a few months ago, saying he couldn't plug his keyboard in. Went over there with a new keyboard figuring he'd probably mangled the PS2 plug, only to find that he'd somehow snapped the keyboard / mouse riser clean off the board! (his mouse is usb)

One new usb keyboard later........... amazingly everything still works fine (at least fine for a K7S5A)!!

Maybe one day he'll tell me how he managed it(!)

    Angry

We have had two of these in the last month, both had ripped the video connector off the board!?!? "It don't give, so I done pulled it harder" was the explanation given in both cases. Education and common sense, both lacking in so many places these days..... It's enough to drive you to drink... and not at a consumption rate considered "social drinking"!

    Thanks for posting that.

Made my day and confirmed once again the need for issuing licenses for PC users.

Around these parts, it's considered "stress management".

    Not necessarily.

That would just allow them to use the PC, like drivers use cars.

Doesn't mean they can actually fix them, like mechanics.

Errr.. I assumed that a license would be issued after passing a basic test (in which case there would be a lack of users), my bad.

It wouldn't surprise me if it was stolen. It'd make sense then - theif smashes window to home/office setting the alarm off, bolts in, rips all the cables out of the box and runs off with the box before the police arrive.
