My TP 600 type code is 2645-510 according to the sticker and the upgrades were the following (not very old stuff as can be seem from the dates):
- Battery MaxiMiser and Power Management Features for Windows 2004-02-19
- TrackPoint driver for Windows 2000/XP 2003-12-23
After these two the sound device stopped working. Currently, I have no idea why it broke up and how to fix it. The most amazing thing is that it actually worked fine right after the installation, which was actually an upgrade from w2k. Could it be possible that there was be some old driver hanging around from w2k, which got overwritten afterwards?
I also tried following upgrade but it didn't really include anything sound device related: Windows XP Supplement Files 2001-10-18

Hi Olli
Funnily enough, I installed both of those upgrades after I installed XP on my 600, although I not sure if the sound was working before or not - I don't think so, but can't be 100% sure. Anyway, the XP drivers I listed in an earlier post worked for me - install the files and then re-boot - voila, you should now have sound.

Hi Martin,
I'm having exactly the same problem with the same H/W. What driver did you end up using to fix the problem ?
Thanx

Hi
I installed the attached and all is working perfectly.
Hope this helps you too
Martin
[EDIT]
I can't attach the file, so if you PM me your email address, I will return your message with the drivers attached. Alternatively, you can go to the link in one of my earlier posts, register and download them yourself.

Thinkpad 600 Known Ports issues
There is a known issue with the Thinkpad and not enough ports. For some silly reason, they have the sound system taking up a lot of com ports. i have gotten around this issue by disabling the Infared Port. i also check to make sure the serial port and the modem aren't conflicting. This usually works and the sound comes up!
