so how do i install 2 hard drives?

the motherboard has 2 IDE slots, and i have 2 ribbon cables that each have 3 connectors on them(1 for mobo). Should I have both hard drives on the same cable, and then my cd rom drive all by itself on the second IDE slot. Or have 1 hard drive and cd rom on 1 cable, and the other hard drive with a cable and slot all to itself?

hdd0 = jumpered as master on cable one
hdd1 = jumpered as slave on cable one
cdr2 = jumpered as master on cable two

Make sure pin one goes on the correct side or it won't work.

So that's 'generally' the way it goes , but that assumes both drives combined can work with IDT (independant device timings) & we have no mixed MW DMA & UDMA issues, to be 'sure' you need to either test & note speeds or post all the specs of the IDE devices concernced & I can take an 'educated' guess at what combo will give you the best overall performance
