WIN98SE Instalation Tip!

A tip for those installing win98se update! If you have kept up with updating your system while you were waiting to get the win98se update. And after you install the win98se up to your system. You find that it seems to run slower, that your system isn't performing like it used to! Well if you go to your system information, then to tools, and to the Version Conflict manager, you might just have a big surprise. I have kept up with all the latest updates for win98, and just recently installed win98se. I always go through my systems after a install, and I found that win98se will replace (close to 30) drivers in the system with old drivers, thus causeing the system to slow down, with little glitches here and there! But luckally you can just restore them back to the newer version that was saved for you! Have a great day!

First I want to thank y'all for the outstanding information you contribute. I recently installed the W98se upgrade on a system running W95b (and, yes I know that upgrades in general are a pain in the tookas). The tip you provided resulted in some impovement but the system still "bogs down", especially when running multiple applications and/or extensive use of a single application such as the browser. The system exhibits indications of being memory-constrained. I have tried several different cache & swap file settings, all with the same results. Are there any other tips you can share to overcome this problem? Specs are: PII-233, 160MB ram, 20MB hard drive using 32-bit fs. Thanks!
