Lan-Only Email
I support a company that wants to have interoffice email, but isn't interested in actual Email. I've been looking for a small, free prg like the built-in postoffice used to be but can't seem to find anything that isn't loaded with a bunch of other features.
Anyone have a suggestion?

sme server by e-smith it's cheap, as in FREE and will run quite well on a junker system. I have an office running 5.5 on a 233mhz pentium with 64 MB ram. the email is checkable either via webmail or outlook express etc. it's easy to configure and setup and works quite well, just set it up as a server only.

ClarkConnect does the same thing and quite well. Either way you don't need a big machine like kato pointed out. It's got IMAP support too which is nice.

I probably should have clarified that this is a Windows environment. I have a Win2k server that i'd like to use as the "postoffice" if possible.

How many clients? Software602.com has a nice little program called 602LanSuite and is free up to 5 users. Very cheap for licensing after that.
