[RESOLVED] Cut & Paste
Windows 95b
I am unable to use cut & paste or click & drag in any MS application including word, explorer or desktop.
I have reloaded windows, reloaded mouse drivers and checked attributes.
Nothing is sent to clipboard.
I feel this may be a memory allocation problem but mem/c shows 577kb free but xms full. Running 48mb ram.
This problem appeared after I temporarily installed a 10.2gb HDD as a slave to a 5.1.
I did this to setup the HDD and load a later version of Win95 to the 10.2 which was removed as is functioning ok in another machine

Sounds to me like a Virus-related problem.
You should check your system with an Antivirus Software.

Found this fix at www.experts-exchange.com forum.
Your OLE files are screwed up. Go to a DOS prompted (completely out of windows) go to the Windows\System folder and type ren OLE*.* to OLE*.OLD and then reinstall Windows.

Hi,
Try:
In Internet Explorer-tools| internet options | security tab | custom level| enable drag, drop, copy, and paste.
If the box is already ticked , try:
Goto Start--Find and search for dcom95.exe .
Double click on the DCOM95.exe file to run it.
It may fix any OLE error (possibly in registry) or corrupt file causing the drag and drop or cut and paste prob.
(You may need to uninstall/reinstall it)
Dcom95.exe is normally installed with IE,and may be on the IE installation disk, and/or can be downloaded from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/com/dcom95/dcom95.htm,
and
http://www.microsoft.com/com/dcom/dcom95/dcom1_3.asp
HIH,cheers

KB, here is what happened.
If you are running Windows 95, A,B or C versions, AND Internet Explorer 4 or 5 has been installed, you must first uninstall Internet Explorer before any reinstall of Windows 95. Internet Explorer 4 and 5 replace many Windows key files such as Explorer.exe. On reinstalling Windows, it won't replace the new file versions. So you have a couple of different versions of Windows running , also if you try to run IE, it won't.
