[RESOLVED] Mouse troubles - grrrrr!

Hi, I have a really strange problem.

Windows has all of a sudden started being really annoying and whenever I play games I can see the windows mouse pointer flickering in the middle of the screen (or wherever the in-game mouse pointer is, depending on the type of game). I have no viruses on my computer, the hard disk has been formatted and windows installed from the original CD and I have the latest drivers for my graphics card and DirectX (version 8.0). Oh yeah, my mouse is a standard Microsoft Intellimouse. Intellipoint is not installed but even when it is I have the same problem and the program just annoys me so I leave it uninstalled.

Does anyone have a clue what is going on???

I know a couple things that could cause your problem: 1) video card driver and/or DirectX 8.0. Try going back to an earlier version of your video card drivers. You can revert to an earlier version of DirectX by using TweakTown's DirectX Uninstaller. It's available at http://www.tweaktown.com/files.shtml (see bottom of page under DX Uninstallers). also try getting a newer version of your mouse drivers i think its 3.2 now from microsoft ... i had that problem with my intellieye mouse but the driver update fixed it i hope it helps

Thanks for the help guys, but I've just tried what you said and it still has no effect! I really hate Windows sometimes, I wish Microsoft could design something that actually works.

Hey, I fixed it!!! Well, at least I think so - I've managed to complete a whole level on delta force land warrior without it appearing. I had to disable the gameport joystick in Device Manager but it seems to have done the trick (I never use the joystick anyway so it doesn't matter).
