Question Is this where I need to go?

Hi, I was looking to build/modify a computer over the summer, a friend told me AMD 64 bit processors were good, even for non-64Bit apps, is this true? If so does anyone know where to get a Barebones cases like the ASUS Terminator T2 which takes AMD's 64 Bit processors/motherboards.. any help would be greatly appreciated

A64 compatible motherboards are ATX compatible. As long as the motherboard and case are both ATX, you will have no problem installing.

I never have and never will buy a barebone system, so I can't really help you with that. I just find individual components I like.

The Asus Terminator is an Intel board, so no, it isn't compatible with A64.

Look through www.newegg.com for components you like.

thanks... ummm just to make sure I fully understand you, if I bought a Terminator and a A64 board, could I take the Intel board out and replace it with the AMD one but I'd just have a random Motherboard lying around, right? (y)/(n)......

Yes, and now you're not talking about a "Barebones" system any longer. Those should be bought if what is included is EXACTLY what you want: case/mb/cpu/HSF/ram is the usual minimum combo.
Best bet: do what jaeger advices and get each individual part that you want and build your own custom system.

Tried a search on Google, or jaeger's link to newegg? Listen, you give it a shot, and if you can't find one, get back and we'll have a go. What country are you in?

Ah, freddy is in the house at the moment, so PM him. Many members here are from the UK including our Super Mod. Seems many of them have been too busy lately to check in though, and esp on a weekend.
