[RESOLVED] Japanese Windows?

Although I am afraid that I already know the answer, I'll ask anyway.

I have a computer on my bench now that is entirely in Japanese. Of course, thats how the customer wants it because they are Japanese.

Heres the Problem. I had to replace the motherboard because the previous board failed. And, of course Win98SE started loading drivers left and right and asking be questions in Japanese. BUT, I don't read or speak Japanese so I don't know what drivers it tried to install. TO make it worse, now its loaded something that locks up the machine.

Is there a way to get Windows to report in English, or is it a lost cause and time for me to place my best bets?

Try and get into the control panel and click on regional settings(looks like a globe)
in there you should be able to change the language settings so you can understand it.

Hmmm...Did that, still in Japanese. I'm trying to trace down the history of the system to see if its a Japanese install or an American Install that has be altered.

I did delete a bunch of stuff from config.sys and autoexec.bat, so now I can have english in MSDOS mode.

I had to load Korean version of 98 and just took things in control panel and hit tab I new to be update drivers and directed to floppy or cd with drivers for say a modem until I got the right device and went on down the line. Also any errors were generally in English.

I had a similar situation last year.
I had to replace a mobo for a Korean guy. Of course, he had installed the Korean Windows version. I believe, the best thing you can do is call the customer and ask him to translate every single message you don't understand.
I don't know if this helps you, but that's what I did.
