    Euro 2004 fantasy football

Football (soccer) fans everywhere, I'm thinking of running a simple fantasy football game during the Euro 2004 tournament here on Windrivers. Just seeing if there's any interest or a big negative "shove it"!

    This is how it works..
Each day I would create 1 thread for that days game or games, (max 2 games a day). In that thread I would invite you to predict the final score for the matches taking place that day. You would make your prediction in the thread. After each match, points would be awarded based on accuracy of predictions and a league table would be created, (much like mindtrap). The league table would be realtime and hosted round the clock on my own website for convenience, (with a link to it in my sig.) (realtime being when I get home from the pub after watching the games )

    Points awarded..
Exact score correct = 4 points
Home side goals correct = 1 point
Away side goals correct = 1 point
Overall result correct (ie draw) = 1 point

I'll give better examples and rules nearer the time but if there's any interest just say so here. The winner after the tournament ends will win nothing but acclaim and much love from other players, and can put Windrivers Fantasy Football Champion in his/her sig. if sad enough.

Sorry Driver, but this is one American who is in big time. But G already knew that.
Soccer is getting bigger in the States every year. Look at the exhibitions last year when Manc U came over and sold out. EXHIBITIONS man!! With the influx of all the immigrants and the performance lately of the US team in world events, and its players in foreign leagues, it's only a matter of time. And, sooner than later.
So, don't listen to these knuckleheads here. Geesh, teh Ya_k doesn't like ANY sports.

Geesh, I can't believe the lack of interest in Euro '04, considering how many non-Americans we have in this forum!!!
Hey G. We either have to rethink this, or give up the ghost, and join a Football forum.

    Rules requested? Happy to oblige.

No entrance money, no prize money, fun competition only

On each day during Euro 2004 that there are 1 or 2 games being played then I will post a thread asking you to predict the results of that or those games. You can post in that thread making your score predictions. There are only 2 rules

    1. You have one prediction per match
    2. You post your prediction before the game begins

    No more rules!

    Scoring
4 points for an exact prediction
1 point for home goals correct
1 point for away goals correct
1 point for overall result correct

    Examples
For the first game of the tournament next Sunday I would ask you to predict the
England V France result. For this example we will say that England have won the game 3-1.

If you predicted 3-1 then you get a gold star and 4 points for an exact result
If you predicted 3-0 then you get 1 point for the home team goals correct and 1 point for the overall result (an England win)
If you predicted 2-1 then you would get 1 point for the away team goals correct and 1 point for the overall result
If you predicted 1-1 then you would get 1 point for the away team goals correct
If you predicted 2-2 you would get a big fat zero.
    ETC.

Even though interest has been low so far, (weekend traffic?), I think I’ll still play the game anyway and see if we can attract more people when the tournament begins.

Would this not 'work better' if you posted some fixtures, then folks might put their 'bets on ' ?

Even 'teh stupiooooood yankee doodlie types' can guess scores surely ?

You might have to make it straight win lose or draw though for the 'football knowledge challenged' among us
