    I can believe that.

Companies expect more out of you, quicker results, larger work loads, fewer techs, and yet they still spaz out whenever you inquire about raise.

Oh wait... that happens at every job.

Yup yup. But teh job of an IT person is kinda like being a prison guard. Not really a whole lot going on until a jail-break happens. But you should be prepared for when it does happen.

Yeah but in every other job they don't have this mad notion that you can replace experience with some workers with mickey mouse papers endorsed by mickey mouse s/w companies

But it doesn't matter to companies because they can spend much less $$$ this way. There are only two things that companies care about. Time and Money. Skills? Experience? Bah. Who needs em if I'm cutting down my bottom line. It's quite sad that companies think this way these days. It used to be "gotta spend money to make money". Now it's all about cutbacks, saving, trimming, etc.

Yeah, but eventually you get replaced with a central help desk. And later on that help desk gets replaced with an overseas help desk. Sh!t, by then your convinced that you're speaking with Apoo from The Simpsons and no matter how hard you try, neither of you can understand each other and the problem is eventually solved by a simple fluke of good luck.

The survey did find that IT workers' salaries are at least 20 percent higher than their non-IT counterparts'
