[RESOLVED] Big delays, big annoyances

Whenever I go to the start on the taskbar, there is a 5-6 second delay before it responds. Also when I right click to bring down the menu, I get about a 30 second delay. VERY ANNOYING! I resetup windows with no response. Any ideas? No hardware changes in months, by the way. Thanks in advance!

Sounds more like a software problem. Have you added programs like virus scanners, download monitors, or "anticrash" utilities?
Hit crtl-alt-del and see what you have running in the background. If you have been trying new shareware or games there may be a lot of leftover trash running, some may be hidden. Surfing the net can leave a lot of programs installed that you do not even see.
Have you maintained your drive? Run scandisk and defrag to speed access. Run may need to run a cleaning utility to get rid of unwanted files. And lastly check your settings and see if they are still set to optimal for your hardware. Windows will reinstall with settings in the safest position, even if it means slowing down.
