I installed a 2nd 20gig HD and another 64mb ram and a new CD-RW and have no problems...would a faster cpu make any difference and would there be a compatability problem with a faster processer? Most systems will run Windows faster with at least 128Mb of RAM. As the others said, the effectiveness of a CPU upgrade would be dependent upon what your system would be able to use.

Faster CPU will help increase the speed. Get information to us on the model of the Compaq. It is worth it probably to buy a faster CPU since they are relatively cheap.
