chkdsk without knowing Administrator password
We've had an onslaught of PC's come to the shop with various errors such as UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME and such. We usually use chkdsk from the recovery console of XP to fix it, but lately we've had several systems that the users don't seem to be able to remember their Administrator password. Is there any way around this. In particular, I had 2 systems at a business this morning. The first had a second partition that I could log onto without a password and just change back to c: drive to run chkdsk, but the second has only one partition and I can't log on. Just wondering if there is any way to boot with a disk that recognizes NTFS and run chkdsk that way. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Ultimate Boot CD has a few utils that could help you out.
I have seen UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME errors on machines where the motherboard had been replaced on Win2000, WinXP machines
