Windoze update & Directx
Hey all,
Its been a while since I've posted, had to take a few months away from the great WWW. So, when it came time to plug my beast back in, my first thought was to System, Software, & Driver updates. And off to update bliss I went...
Then, I take my happy self over to M$ Update to see what security holes they have pluged with straws since I've been away. Well, there was a few, and one for Directx even.
Well, after the updates are installed, and the typical reboot, I install my new ATI Display Drivers, reboot, then attempt to play Unreal 2003. At which point my puter then gently responds whith: "Um, what? Oh...a game...no. Sorry, you have no Direct3D, Acceleration, or Draw. So, no game for you!"
"What?!" I ask.
"You heard me!" is the responce.
So, to sum up, a driver roll-back of the Radeon 9800, produced no solution. An uninstall of the DirectX security update HotFix did squat as well. The final solution was to reinstall my DX 9.0b, Reinstall the Radeon drivers, and NOT download the security HotFix.
This concludes my welcome back to the internet, Windoze XP rant.

As you see, Dravin, the state of things IT has significantly improved by staying the same as it was when you left.
Thanks for the tip, and welcome back.
