    windows 2000 server ftp trouble

I'm follwing the instructions from the Microsoft knowledge base in order to create an ftp server in Windows 2000 Server but it mentions an IIS Snap-In option that I don't seem to have. Also, how can I tell which version of IIS I'm using and could this be upgraded?

I think I have made some progress. When I set the ftp server to anonymous access only then everything is accessible either from DOS or browser.
As soon as I remove the anonymous access, then that's when I see the following error:

    200 type set to A
    227 Entering Passive Mode
    426 Connection closed

This'll only go away once anonymous access is engaged.
I would just leave it as it is but I don't like my ftp open to the public.

Hmmmmm...a friend of mine told me to put the server i.p. in the DMZ host field within my router and now I can see everything.

I took the server out of the DMZ Host, removed the check within my browser that enables connectivity to ftp through passive mode, and I can access the ftp server just fine. Looks like I have some composing to do and then submit to Linksys for their BEFSR41 routers. Piecing this information together was like a
1,000,000 piece jigsaw puzzle with one eye closed part way. Yikes!!!

O.k., only one last hurdle to clear: ftp permissions. For some odd reason, I'm the only one of 3 who can write to the ftp directory. Is there some way I can change permissons per user? I have Googled this problem to death and I still haven't found the answer I need.

Yes.. have you set up the ftp using a virtual directory?
If so, go to the directory, right click, security, click on the user and check the permissions boxes you wish to give.

If that's all I have to do then I'm going outside to flog myself with a garden hose for being stupid.

    Thank you for your answer.
