usb detection

i have a hewlett packard 6645c,and my usb
port will not work.when i hook up my usb
printer,i get the message saying that windows
has detected the usb printer and will search
for the best device driver.then tells me that no device driver was found.i tell it to
check C:,but this does not help.i have done a
quick re-store and a full restore to re-installed windows but this does not help.i am
using Win98 the second edition.Help!!!

You need to install your printer driver first. Then when you plug in your printer, windows will load the driver.
