My Networkplaces
I did a stupid thing a few nights ago, I could not get my computer to network with my "server"
When I opened " My network places" I could not see the " Windows network " icon
In my frustration I deleted " My network places"
I need to know how to restore the icon to my desktop, I figured out the networking issue, ( No client installed )
So as of now I have no " My network places" and I need it
All this because I wanted to back up my laptop due to a bad Linux install
I am running XP pro with all the service packs and upgrades
System specs are
Asus P4c 800 deluxe
P4 2.4 ghz 800 mhz fsb Hyperthreading disabled
512 megs Corsair rain 2x 256 dual channel
Asus v9570 td Video card
Seagate SATA 80 gig drive
LG CDRW/DVD combo drive
BenQ DVD burner
Goog ole floppie drive
Antecl Lanboy case with smart blue 350 watt psu
Lots of fans for air circulation
Overall this system is stable, I just need to know the trick to fix what I broke
I want to avoid backing this baby up and reinstalling Windows
Thanks in advance for the help
Format c I'm givin er all she's got cap'in !!! )

Thanks gazzak, I knew it would be something simple, I wound up reinstalling due to experimenting with several different buring apps and DVD ripping apps
I am keeping this on hand just in case

Geezer
So as a btw - having followed Gary's instructions you'll have realised that you can't really delete 'My network places' at all, only the shortcut - it should still have been accessable via control panel
