Weirdest display problem, ever...period!

OK here goes...

I receivea a call from a user today stating as the day goes by the icons get larger and larger.

Went to check it out and found as you open apps and work in windows then close them the desktop icons gradually grow. I updated video and monitor drivers etc. Updated virus and scanned system. I cannot think what else to try and am wondering has anybody had similar problem before?

Is it just the icons or is it the entire screen. Because I've had a system where everything on the screen kept doing that and it turned out to be a failing monitor. I also had a computer where only the icons would shrink, but that turned out to be hybris.
