OK, remove the card entirely. Reboot and go into windows safe mode, clear out any and all software and drivers from creative - check in device manager and in add/remove programs. Turn off system restore so windows doesn't helpfully put it back. Go through the registry looking for the creative entries and export and delete them.
Now put the card back in say slot 3 and go straight into bios setup.... carry out clearing nvram this forces the bios to re evaluate the hardware connected. Now boot to windows.... does it still hang?
