HELP!! Explain this
Have customers PC on bench. Went to do a "scanreg/restore" System is used every day but the latest restore cab was 3 years old. What gives here. Thanks AJ

I'd guess that they had their clock put back somewhat to let a piece of software that supposed to run out not run out.

This was one of my thoughts but clock and date are current. The latest cab was during OEM setup in mid 99.

Look in msconfig and see if "scanregistry" is unchecked.......I bet it is.

It Happens to everybody on something with msconfig. That can be one of the most handy utils built into windows but it can also cause the most headaches when a custumer messes with it and does not know what they are doing. oh well maybe microsoft should put a HUGE warning on it sort of like you get when you try to open the windows dir.

You're not stupid. That came to mind because when I was a repair/build tech, there was an so-called tech around here that told his customers that scanregistry was a virus. When he went out of business (wonder why?), I got the biggest share of his customers. Now it sticks in my mind.
