IOMega Super DVD with HotBurn
I recently acquired an IOmega Super DVD with the burning software Hotburn. I have had nothing but trouble with the product and now have about 10 expensive DVD+R coasters. This is the only software product that I have used that can cause a complete Win XP freeze, requireing a power off from the AC to recover. I tried it on 3 different XP Pro PC's that I have. IOMega support has been useless. I completely removed the software but I had 2 system freezes while using the built in CD/DVD drive.
I noticed the following even after uninstalling the software.
1. A service running called "Iomega Application Services".
2. A device driver showing up on my 2 internal drives "IOMDISK.SYS"
I disabled the service.
Should I remove the drived IOMDISK.SYS? If so how does one go about removing a single driver associated with a device. I have never done this on XP.
Thanks
P.S. HAs anyone ever gotten Hotburn to actually work?

Welcome to Windrivers sghogan
Yes many people swear by them, some swear at them.
Alot of this is to do with how you have xp setup, your service packs and windows updates, the media you bought, the other drivers and devices in your laptop.
If you post your computer make/model and what windows updates you have done, we can help further.

IOMega Super DVD with HotBurn
I tried to get the DVD to work of 3 different XP PC's but I will spec one here.
First the DVD is an IOMEGA USB Super DVD 8X Writer.
The system system showed it as a HT-DL-ST DVDRAM GSA-4081B when installed. The software is Hotburn. I was able to copy a couple of DVD's (ones that I had burned on a Philips DVD "VCR") but most of the time I got Hotburn and sometimes full XP hangs. After removing the software I got a couple of XP hangs while using the built in DVD/CD with Musicmatch. After pokeing around I found a service running called "IOMega App services". After disabling the service the PC has not hung. I still have the driver IOMDISK.sys installed.
The primary PC is a Dell Dimension 8300.
WIN XP PRO SP 1 with all critical fixes installed.
2.6 GH P IV
768 RAM
60 GB HD
DVD/CD ROM (Liton DVD-ROM LTD163
CD/RW (_NEC CD-RW NR-9300A)
Norton Internet Security (I disabled when Hotburn was installed and when trying to burn DVD's)
Other CD burning software:
MusicMatch 8.2
Media Player
Roxio Easy CD Creator 5
One of the suggestions from IOMEga to get Hotburn to work was to remove all other burning software which I certainly did not do.

Most other burning programs upset each other... nero and roxio are known foes. XP native burning upsets everything! So follow their advice.
