No Audio after reinstall
I formatted and reinstalled WIN98SE on my Toshiba 1800-S203 Notebook and everything is working OK--- except 2 problems, one of them is that the audio is showing no driver...just PCI Multimedia Audio Device. I have a list of possible drivers in the device manager, but don't know which one it has or how to find out. Any advice? Thanks

you also need to download the modem drivers then. You may need to point windows either to your windows cd rom or to the drivers you downloaded.

I have tried both the CD and from the installed Windows-- I even went thru the list of modem drivers and tried to install the ones that looked the most "logical" and each was rejected.
I didn't have sound after loading the driver you directed me to-- and after booting 2 or 3 times, it started working ... and the volume control appeared... go figure. (Thanks!) I still get the message that it wants the "SoftwareModem" though. I am getting a message on startup wanting a password for "Microsoft Networking". I checked and I have a lot of network devices active in the device manager. Could there be a conflict or something?? I will want to be able to get online with another computer on the same router.

Update*** I had the VIDEO driver problem too in the other forum and when I "updated the driver" one more time, it reloaded the same driver, but the "softwaremodem" message went away. It just appeared withthe new sound driver, but went away with the video --- Thanks for all the help!
