    Post Cheap BIOS replacement?

I have an Asus TX97-E motherboard that I think needs a new BIOS chip. Even though it
was surge protected I think a power surge
disrupted the EEPROM so that the keyboard is
no longer detected. I tried clearing the
CMOS but no luck. The only price I could
find is 69.00, and have not been able to
    locate anyone with a "burner".

I think if you have fried your Bios.. The only suggestion I can think of, is to buy another motherboard, because you don't know what other damage you could have done. I think it would be cheaper in the long run..sorry about that...but I could be wrong and probably are...

Ouch thats gotta hurt, I agree , I think a new mother board is on order unless you can find some one with the exact same board and try a hot bios swap ( Not reccommended )
You cant use a chip burner since it is an eeprom and not an eprom , Maybe you can I am not sure
    Did you try another keyboard

    NO NO NO!

You can just buy a new BIOS from Asus. Call up Asus and tell them that you want to buy a BIOS for your particular model of motherboard. Im not sure that they will do this, but i have a motherboard from Abit and they sold me a BIOS for 10 bucks. I called them directly and 2 days later had the BIOS in my hand. 10bucks plus shipping and handling.

Thanks for everyone's help. I once bought
a BIOS from Mylex but I thought Asus would be
unreachable. My dad keeps asking when I'm
going to fix his computer so I guess I'll be
doing something soon even if it means scraping the motherboard.
