outlook 2002 default address book issues
here is my situation:
in outlook, the default contact list is the personal contacts list. there are about 10 addresses in there. i have a global contact list that has about 5000 work e-mail addresses in it. i want outlook to use that as the default, so when i start typing a name in the TO: field it autofills the name when it find it. right now it will only autofill if the name is in my personal contacts list.....
i found an option to copy all the addresses in the global to the personal, but that was going to take a while and is not really what I want to do.
any help would be appreciated. i don't want to have to hit TO:, pick global conctact list, then pick names. i want to just type and have it autofill.....

In outlook goto Tools/services, then the Addressing tab...should be able to add different lists, set priority (which one will be used first when resolving names), also which list comes up first...
Is that what you needed?

i'll try that. i found this:
Changing the search order for your Outlook address books and changing the primary address book
For Outlook 2002:
In Outlook 2002, select Tools > Address Book.
In the Address Book dialog box, click Tools, and then click Options.
In the Show this address list first list, click the address book you want to appear first in the Show names from the list.
If you want a Contacts folder to appear first, you must select the Contacts folder name, not Outlook Address Book.
that may be the same thing almost.
i'll let you know. its at a client site. we use lotus notes here (notes is a nightmare).
thanks for your help.

I should have pointed out, my advice is for an Office 2000 setup, I don't know if it's the same as 2002, but my guess is that it is.
