    Sony PCG-F801A no sound

My Sony laptop does not have any sound. No sound card has been installed. Tried Sony support, but no support available unless you have a serial number (non available). When i check 'Sound & Mulitmedia' properties, it shows No Playback/Recording/Midi playback devices. I have no recovery disks.

I m using Sony Viao (PCG-F801A) with Windows 2000 Pro. Please advise.

Yes ive dowmloaded the manual and user guide. But unfortunately no mention of support for sound (unless youve installed sound pci card).

No sound coming from speakers. Yes it was like this when i got it,but adobe premiere 6.0 will not start up (errors generated). I put up with the problem, but now i need to sort it.

any suggestions appreciated. thanx for the prompt reply.

Why is serial # not available? Should be on the bottom of your laptop. US support does not require a serial #, but your model is not available in US.

Download Everest http://www.lavalys.com/products/down...ng=en&pageid=3 and post the information under Multimedia/PCI Audio

The serial number label is under the laptop, but it so worn out that its impossible read it. I'll will check out the link, and let you know if i manage to solve the sound problem.

Thanks for your support and prompt response.
