Question Game Theater Xp and WinXP sp2 issues

I have used the Game Theater XP for years, and have loved it. It is the only component I have kept through 3 new systems. I have 4 pc's networked in my home, and the system with the GTXP bounces back between the office and my living room. When the system is in the office, I use the onboard NForce audio run through normal desktop speakers. When I move it to the living room, I change the audio settings to use the GTXP (I leave the rack behind my couch). The GTXP is hooked to my surround sound receiver via an optical cable. I have the video piped into my 50" digital big screen, which makes for a nice experience. All worked fine until I installed xp sp2. Now I get an ungodly "static" type sound whenever any audio files try to play, even the shortest wavs or midis. I installed the latest drivers ( CSCv609 & CSCv609a, and also tried GTXPv5021) which allowed the unit to work, but I lost control of the speakers. If i set my surround sound receiver to "surround" mode (which is what i have always used) i only get output to my center channel. If I change it to a standard setting (club mix, hall etc...) it plays out of all 6 speakers, but evenly, with no seperation, and sounds horrible. I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem, or has any suggestions. I HAVE noticed that WinXP now recognizes it as an "unsupported" chipset, and will try to update the drivers automatically. This may help some others who have installed the newer drivers, and had them working, and then had trouble upon reboot etc... You can NOT have an open internet connection when updating or installing new drivers for this device. Thnx in advance

    Welcome to Windrivers Baseman

Have you uninstalled sp2 to see if the problem clears up?
