help on Mad Dog Sound Card
Hi, I was trying to install a Mad Dog Prowler 4.1 sound card on a soyo k7vme mobo. (i am running XP HOME)
I disabled the onboard sound card in bios and also in the safe mode, I delete all the things in the cataglory of "sound video and game controller" in device manager. then i plug in the sound card and install the driver for the new sound.
It work fine if i only play mp3 with winamp. All front and rear speak have sound. but when I try to play some MPEG file or DVD, the sound became very very low, especially the rear speaker. I tried a lot of things, like change the output setting for the sound card or update the driver, but all useless.
Can anybody help me?

welcome to windrivers geejay
When you say you deleted everything under sound devices, did you also delete all the codecs?

Yes, I follow the instruction provide by maddog.com and delet all those codec.
And I found after I installed the new sound card, those codec did not show up any more. Is this the reason for my sound card problem?
How can I get those codec back?
Thanks!

control panel, add new hardware
Click yes, I have connected the hardware,
click next,
scroll to the bottom of the list,
double click add new hardware,
check the radio button "search for and install hardware"
If it doesn't find the codecs, repeat the above but
click the radio button "install the hardware I manually select from the list"
click next
select sound, video and game controllers
click next
standard system devices
Install audio codecs
repeat for legacy audio codecs and media control

thank you!
Thank you so much for the advice!! It really works!
However, I still have some question about my sound card and speaker.
I have two sets of 2-chanel speakers. Can I use those four speakers to set up a 4-chanel sound system with my 4.1 sound card?
Currently, I plug one pair of speaker in the front-output jacket and the other one in the rear-output jacket.
I found when I played DVD with 5.1 sound effect, the volume of the front speak produce significantly lower sound compared to the DVD with 2-chanel sound effet. Is there anything wrong with my system?
Again, Thanks a lot!

4.1 speaker setup differs from board to board... check the manual for you motherboard how to set it up.... but it sounds like you mean the speaker out on the front of the case and the speaker out at the back of the case? If you did mean that, it is wrong.

My 4.1 sound card has 4 jacket both at the back of the case. 1 front, 1 rear, 1 line in, 1 microphone. I connect a 2.1 speaker system to the rear jacket and a 2.0 speaker system to the front.
