Much damage? How was it compared to Charley? Are you braced for Ivan?

No damage worth talking about here, just a fridge full of food that went bad. Frances was a low Cat1 when it hit us, there is no comparison to Charley. Frances was just massive. We started seeing bands coming through mid Saturday and there is still wind and rain out.

Ivan sucks. Friggin' Florida. Yer either too hot or getting rained on down here.

Just rained a bit here and got fairly windy. Everyone put their shutters up, but nothing major. Leaving mine up for a few days while I track Ivan.

    Cheers

Well, I believe this one missed Trip. Ya_Know, well, I think he's treading water. Although, rather lame around here, it has had a kind of peacefulness, that I guess can only be described as the eye of the storm..........

Well keep safe and keep us informed if you can...

Ever notice how when this happens abroad we send aid/money, do you think this will happen for you Floridians? God knows you need it, 3 in a row.

Well, rather than having Burkino Faso and the Faroe Islands send over their combined GDP, the US has this thing called FEMA that apparently pays for things like chainsaws and generators. Of course, that all comes out of taxes we've paid in so it's really our money. Then, if you own a home (well, have a mortgage anyway), its necessary to carry Home Owners insurance which covers the rest (allegedly, unless of course there's a "named storm", then there are extra deductibles).

    Cheers

What about aid workers to help you rebuild or does the insurance take care of all that?

I am curious that with the possibility of Ivan hitting this weekend if many people are going to wait the extra week before starting repairs, so they do not have to pay thier deductable 2 more times?

cort - I think that FEMA do something with regards to getting tarps and stuff on roofs, as to major structural repairs - it's all handled by the insurance.

Camaro - I didn't get any damage in either storm (luckily) but I'm keeping my shutters up until we know whats happening with Ivan.

    Cheers
