    before you ask

    Installation

The following installation procedures are specifically for this version of driver and the installation files included within this release.

    1. After you have downloaded and double-clicked the 7511154.exe file, the files self-extract and copy into the C:\cabs\7511154 folder.

    2. Close all open programs.

    3. From the Start menu, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

    4. In Control Panel, double-click on the System icon.

    5. In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab.

    6. On the Hardware tab, click Device Manager.

    7. If the sound drivers have not been installed, the sound device is listed under Other Devices as Multimedia Audio Controller. If the sound drivers have been previously installed, the sound device is listed under Sound, video and game controllers as SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio.

Note: Click the plus sign (+) located to the left of the category to expand and display the installed devices listed under that category.

    8. Double-click the appropriate device, either Multimedia Audio Controller or SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio.

    9. In the device properties dialog box, click the Driver tab.

    10. On the Driver tab, click Update Driver.

    11. In the Upgrade Device Driver Wizard dialog box, click Next.

    12. In the Install Hardware Device Drivers dialog box, verify that Search for a suitable driver for my device (Recommended) is selected, and then click Next.

    13. In the Locate Driver Files dialog box, select the Specify a location check box to initiate the search at a specific location. Verify that no other options have been selected by clearing the check boxes for those options. Click Next.

    14. Type the path where the audio drivers are located. Unless specifically redirected, the path to the drivers is C:\cabs\7511154.

    15. Click OK.

    16. In the Driver Files Search Results dialog box, verify that the path to the updated drivers is correct, and then click Next.

    17. In the Completing the Upgrade Device Driver Wizard dialog box, the wizard reports that the installation has been completed. Click Finish.

    18. In the device properties dialog box, now identified as the SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio Properties dialog box, click the Close button.

    19. In the System Setting Change dialog box, click Yes to restart the computer.

Note: This step may not be available. If this is the case, close all windows and restart the computer to initialize the driver.

    20. The audio drivers installation is finished, and Device Manager can be closed.
