Their prices are very, very competitive and their shipping charges to Alaska are very reasonable.

Rlee, Techs suggestion that you disclaim on the website any affiliation with tigerdirect seems sensible.
Techs, since you have nothing else to go on other than your own cynicism, I suggest that you withdraw your claims about this online vendor.

I can explain why we are no longer www.package2you.com. I've been with the company for 3 years now, the reason we are no longer package2you is not because we wanted to 'change' our domain name, matter of fact if we could get it back we would gladly. The simple truth of the matter is this, we have two owners, Tony Welch and Denonda Adams, Mr. Welch handles all purchases for our company, being one of the owners he also handles the webhosting for our website along with our domain. Mr. Welch simply did not renew his domain lease after it had expired and evidently didn't receive a email from his registrar when it was about to expire, thus one day out of the blue it was 'gone'. During this time we of course were totally shocked because we lost all of our customers for the fact most of them didn't know our IP address. During this period Mr. Welch immediatly contacted our domain registrar in which they told us the domain name had in fact expired, and on top of that in a matter of 24 hours it was hijacked by some asia company in which they wanted a LARGE amount of money to give it back to us, we wouldn't meet there price thus we had to come up with a name quick as we were losing our customers by the hour because they couldn't get to our website.
Mr. Welch and Mrs. Adams then overnight sat down and come up with www.tigersurplus.com, believe me we have gotten a few emails in the past (although rarely now) asking if we were actually www.tigerdirect.com or part of them. I will say this again, we are NOT any shape or form part of www.tigerdirect.com, I will also say as I stated we have never purchased, sold, ect from www.tigerdirect.com.
Speculating is one thing, coming on a forum and clearly stating we ARE part of a company that this forum clearly doesn't like or has bad dealings with is another thing, by making that statement you lead others to believe we are in fact part of TigerDirect in which I do feel I have to defend my companies name as that statement is 100% false.
I am not sure what more I can say to prove my claim, however if you seriously look at where we are (town is population of 2500), we are locally owned by the two people mentioned above in which you can call and reach anyone of us at our office Monday through Friday 8-5 central time I or the owners would be more than happy to discuss this further.

Thank you for clearing some things up. I really seemed to remember reading you were part of Tigerdirect or else I wouldn't have said it. For that I apologize.
As to this forum clearly doesn't like or has bad dealings(referring to tigerdirect) I note this thread has negative things to say about tiger directs rebates but I might not agree this forum clearly has had bad feelings or doesn't like tigerdirect. I have seen posts saying they were good. And it is the opinion of that particular poster that might have bad feelings not the entire forum.
As to the numerous emails you used to get and the some that are continuing asking you if you are part of TigerDirect I note that you could easily state on your website you are not part of tigerdirect. For that I still think my criticism is valid.
I also call to everyones attention that my company has purchased from you on occasion and my experiences have been uniformly positive. I would buy from you again

Re: Tiger Direct.
Never attribute to criminal malice what can be explained by simple incompetence.
I have had many dealings with Tiger Direct.
Their pricing can be good, sometimes, on some items.
Their corporate sales guys are good, a pleasure to deal with.
Their accounting department sucks, and, yes, we are talking black-hole-cosmic-hoover type suck here -- mega, mega, mega, mega suck, suck, suck, suck -- hang on to all your account documentation -- photocopy all cheques to Tiger Direct before sending them off -- keep copies of all your cancelled cheques that Tiger Direct has cashed -- and then be prepared to waste months of your time dealing with idiots who will threaten you with collection agencies while you fax off all your documentation repeatedly day after day so that they can not bother to read it again and again.
Their RMA department also sucks, although not to the same degree as their accounting.

Something new about TigerDirect. Check this out:
http://www.dartek.com/
now says it's soon to become:
tigerdirectb2b.com
Do does that mean it is going to be part of tigerdirect or not?

Given the recent history on this company, Id just figure its the same scumbuckets with a facelift.
The store out here in naperville illinois was originally Global Computers,Then they said, HEY, We Are Now Tigerdirect,Then they Claimed to be Global,But they still warehoused for Dartek under all the names.
Now,, Quote from an employee was,, Its ALL owned by SYSTEMAX !
I can honestly say,That in my opinion, The Guys who work there dont even know who offically owns that mess.
No matter if its dartek, global, tigerdirect, systemax,, Or whatever name they use,, Its Still Pigs with ear-rings .
Oh BTW Global computers Changeing the name to the same as Darteks
Globalcomputer
Cute sidebar on the store here.
Guy walks up to the parts dept wanting to purchase a CPU from the global catalog PN: XXX XXXX Its listed for $197.00
Order desk guy pulls the part,Types in the part number on the tiger screen
and Price comes up $84.00
Closes screen,Types in global PN and opens the global screen and charges him the 197.00.
Same Parts counter, Same warehouse store,Same Part !!!!
Oh,,, rumor has it they have started yet another rebate site, But to date i havent bothered looking for it,, I Just give New Egg ALL my business.

At the risk of raising the Ire and Irk of the forum- forever being bannished to the ether regions of Nod..., I won't hesitate to say that I have found many 'bargains' from TD, with or without rebates attached. I have bought many (10+) barebones systems- built them up according to customer request over the past 5 years, and find them to be a very reliable source for goods. In this thread, I have seen quite a few other names thrown around, I may give them a try, and see how they compare.
All of the materials purchased, (including that "Barebones LAN Party system" you referred to in the link,) have been reliable equipment. I have found that in most cases one must be a little more patient with the gear, haven't had to return anything yet- defect or otherwise!
Most of their rebates come with some tough 'hoops' to jump through, but to date, I haven't gotten burned by any of them.
Perhaps I am more patient than most, more willing to beat my head against an obstinate component than would most. For that, I feel that I am rewarded by getting inexpensive and reliable equipment- as it has been my experience.
I don't have a lot of posts here, but I do read most, whether they actually pertain to a problem that I am searching for a solution to. You can learn a lot, and collect a lot of information that you may someday use to solve a different problem. There's a lot of knowledge that can be had just from reading...
I could just be lucky, and until I get the shaft from TD, I listen to all the rants, nod and smile, sympathetically, and say, "They saw you coming!"

Hi there,
Uh, I think that ICANN set up some rules, using any false information on your registration profile can have your domain name suspensed. I keep getting thsoe type of e-mails all the time to check my profile there.
Honestly, make me wonder how come no one sue them yet. Heck, peoples sue BestBuy on those rebates and extended warranties, too.

Perhaps I should send the 4 RMAble DEFECTIVE soyo barebones I have here to you for replacement, Seeing as SOYO wont RMA them,, Tiger Wont warrant them,
And Even my 2 buddies working there cant do anything about them.
Talk about big dust bunnies in the corner , LOL
BTW,, out of 20 total soyo rebates marketed by TIGER, 20 remain UNPAID.
Of the 12 PNY rebates Ive mailed 12 are paid, 5 western digital,4 Maxtor,9 officemax,3 circuit city,ALSO paid.
Even the da*n rose bushes I bought at menards Free with rebate paid~!!
I suspect if you actually did receive a rebate from them, That A: Your DAMN lucky to have fallen thru the cracks.. OR B:,,, No,, Im Not Gonna do It,, Im Not gonna throw a cheap insult,, Nope,, Im Not,, haha

Tell you what... I am always up for a challenge. I live for it! Why don't you go ahead, send them to me, prepaid- of course...(Hell, if you live within 50 miles, I'll come pick them up!) I'll get working what I can (if I can) and send back to you- freight collect- you tell me what you want done with the non-functional items...
Although I am in no position assume faulty/defective product liability for the less than scrupulous distributors and manufacturers, I am always willing to help out anyone in need.
By chance did 'they' give a reason for the rejection of your rebates? How about the warranty/RMA requests?

Glad to hear that they're not a total wash.
It does make me think about putting so much stock in the rebate portion of the 'deal'.

Well, should you ever be foolish enough to do business with Tiger Direct, be sure to check your credit card bill when it arrives, you might be surprised like I was to have been charged $100 more than you agree to pay when you purchased your product, and when you call their customer service with proof of invoice that you received, they completely blow you off and leave you to sort it out with your credit card company. I set up my own site just to detail my horror story at www.tigerdirectsucks.org and I encourage everyone to post their own complaints there as well. The more places we record our stories, the more likely we are to discourage future victims of this terribly dishonest company!

I've had 1 problem with TG since starting to purchase from them (close to 12000$ CAN overall now, over the years, for myself and personal clients).
1 graphics card came in damaged, which could have happened in shipping.
Oh yeah - every single one of my mail-in rebates was honored. Never a problem there.
Sorry to hear others haven't had the same service.
