Cant re-install or update IE

Working on a system that is using ME had load of spyware and a couple trojans removed all but now I cant update IE from the internet or from a downloaded version. Tried repair nothing changed. Any Ideas I'm overlooking?

Use a different browser? If that isn't an option (And you should look into it, that way you won't get near as much spyware) then you might wanna try some of the things mentioned in here:

I would suggest just using IE Eradicator to fully uninstall and then try installing again.

You also may have a winsock problem too...might want to download this first and then try the previous post idea:
