DVD buner cannot read and write CD-RW
Hello there! I have TOSHIBA laptop with Windows XP Pro and it has a DVD Writer. My problem with my DVD burner is that i can write and read CD-Rs but not with CD-RWs. Everytime I try to view the content of the CD-RW, it's blank. I tried to view the same CD-RW in CD-Burners and there was data in it. Same problem in writing, i tried to write with the CD-RW, it gives me error messages but when i use the same CD-RW in CD Burners, it was working and i can write in it. I also use a CD-R to write and it i was able to write a data in it. How could that be? I change the CD-RW 3 times and i got the same problem so i think its not the CD-RW that i am using that has the problem. What will i do? Please help me!

Welcome to Windrivers marik
Do you have service pack 1 loaded?
What are you using to burn cdrws?
What are the error messages you are getting?

Thank you. Yes, SP1 is already installed in my laptop. I'm using the "drag-and-drop" in windows explorer in burning the CDRWs (but this "drag-and-drop" thing works in CDRs). The error message that I receive says that the "I cannot write to the CD-RW and I have to replace it with other CD-RW". But when I changed it to a new CD-RW, I still receive the same problem.
Please help!

This tells me you are using some 'packet writing' s/w (makes a cd behave like a Hard disk) .. this is forever going wrong, for the time involved, perhaps try uninstalling re-installing that (perhaps a note of what it is too ? ).
We need a note of the software you are using to burn & the exact text of any error messages you get please, to help you further .. exact laptop or at least CD/DVD model will also let us rule out (or not) physical causes, as you seem to have no dvd problems ?

Don't think so ed - I think he means windows native burning.... it is supposed to support cdrws. What make of cdrw are you using - do you have another make? Some cdrw media are for a specific speed - if this is too high or low for your cdrw drive that can cause these problems with windows
Try using another burning package such as www.nero.com or www.deepburner.com (deepburner has a free version, nero has a trial version).
