Unhappy Radeon X800 XT Platinum PCI Express

Anyone out there have any clue when these suckers will be available? Now I've read some articles that say only the XT will be in PCI Express and that the XT Platinum will come as AGP8x. ATI's website claims that both architectures would be available for both the XT and XT Platinum. And try as I might, I can't find anything out there pointing to a release date. Anyone's help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

P.S. If it's already been released then why isn't it listed anywhere?

Check any benchmarks, b'cause thats the only place u might notice a small (read some mags, only 1-2 fps increase) improvement. No use for now, games will do great in AGP 8x, IMHO should wait awhile for this technology.

Yeh but the problem is I don't want to purchase an AGP board right now. I'd rather future proff myself somewhat by going PCI Express even if games and/or cards don't fully utilize it fully yet. Thanks for your input though!

    Cool CrashTestDummy

PCI-X Its great U wanna be a test pilot for this new tech gateway to fats VGA. I bet its smokin'. BUT... I remember VLB - vesa local bus. Fats as lightning in its day... everything conflicted with it because of resource sharing. AND the cards were humongous. So bye bye VLB, hello PCI. I subscribe to Computer Games magazine, cgonline.com, on pci-X they say hold off 3 months or so for all the TECH guys to crunch 'em. I say if you have the money go for it. Me, I'm happy with my Radeon 9800pro for now. It does every game I wanna play.

Its nice to future proof, but my way is i buy the entire machine at once, and when it needs upgrading go for a new system, my pc life cycle is a new pc every 2-3 years, saves me time, just plop the money at once. Future proofing for me just doesnt work, i never upgrade in the middle of the buying cycle, just ram and HDD, gfx are expensive as it is. What if by the time u want to upgrade you pci-x, theres a new one pci-x 2, then it was no point in the first place?

Thank you so much for your help! Unfortunately, the product listing from Atacom is incorrect. Under tech specs, they list the clock speeds for the XT model card yet under Features they list it as an XT Platinum. But, the listing from Giga-Byte is very promising! Thanks again!

Well, actually that's what I'm doing now. I am building a new pc completely. And it has been at least 3.5 yaears since I've done this. But I understand what you're saying.
