[RESOLVED] I'm FREAKIN'
I'm trying to fix friend's computer and when i start up win 95, the desktop comes up and then a box comes up that says MS-DOS Prompt.
This program is set to run in MS-DOS mode & cannot run while other programs are running. All other programs will close if you choose to continue. (no programs are running)
Then when i choose continue it kicks me out and at the c prompt where i have to type in WIN.
Help........PlEaSe????

edit the win.ini file in the windows dir from DOS and check that nothing is inputted after the 'run=' line. This looks like your friend has a dos prg running imediatly upon wuindows startup. If this does not cure it run windows insafe mode and remove all teh icons from the startup folder on the programs menu.
If these do not work, i'm afraid that your friend might need to reformat their system and start afresh.
If anyone else knows another way around this please post!!!!!

I had that happening once when someone somehow got a game running in boot-up because it was in the autoexec.bat, I don't know if they dropped the icon on sysedit or how it happened (they didn't know enough to have done it on purpose) check the autoexec.bat for some .exe or .bat file that looks like a game.

melinda,
If I were trying to get that same resulti.e
boot up into a dos box I would go into system.ini and change shell=explorer.exe
to shell=command.com
See if thats what happened.good luck!!

Have you tried once you are in windows removing anything that you're not sure about from the startup group. I had to help my brother with this one once. He put a shortcut to a DOS based game in startup. Also run regclean. It does a pretty good job of fixing the registry.
Good Luck
