Lexmark X83 and Win XP
Lexmark X83 on a pentium 1 gig system, running Windows XP SP1.
I was told that this multi function devise was working fine on friday, no programs added or removed from the system.
The devise works fine on its own, scans, copies, and prints.
When i tried to re- install the printer in Win XP SP1 i get this message
16 bit Windows Subsystem
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose ' close ' to terminate the application.
The program for the Lexmark X83 will finish loading, but there is no sign of the printer. However i can still scan from the computer using this devise just fine.
Can anyone explain to me what might be going on? Thanks.

Hi 2ftrain...
I had that prob on an install about 2 weeks ago... here is the M$ KB article link to help fixing your problem.
MS KB324767
Also, I think Lexmark has an uninstall proggie for the X83, if I remember correctly... you might want to completely uninstall it, fix your XP using the link, then try re-install your X83.
Good luck,
Snow

This works for the lexmark X84 and X85 printers. I havent tryed it on anything else yet but when I get back to work this'll get put up on the wall.
I've been getting this problem on many computers running windows XP. This is a good fix for a problem that occures when trying to install many different types of softwear including AVG anti-virus. Thanks alot!
