    tecra 530cdt

    I have a Toshiba Tecra 530CDT that won't boot at all - not from the hard disk or from a floppy.
    When you press the power button the screen lights up and shows the memory test. After the memory test it just freezes - doesn't try to access the hard drive or floppy drive. It just freezes at the same point.

    ok ,, i think you have solved tthis yourself

    but i think the bios says no hard disk

    possible ffaulty floppy

    try setting the bios to boot from the cd-rom first ,,,if no go ,set bios to HDD= none

    see if it boots then ,,,

    why does your bios not see your hard drive?

    EDIT ,,,you have formatted the drive ,,yes

    in the teckra ,,,yes

    using a floppy disk ,,,,,yes

    have you removed the h/drive????????

    Maybe you floppy drive has had it ? (it would help if you'd answer what gets asked though ! I can 'smell' Freddy's frustration over here !)

    Try changing the boot order to cd first & put your windows cd in - what happens then ?
