King of the Mermaids
I have seen a few references on the net referring to this as spyware or an ad server...
Download this...
Hijack This...
and post your results...
I would delete all entries referring to this executable and do a search on your drive and remove it there as well...

shico.exe is a drive icon utility

I found this "shico.exe" on my machine in C:\WINNT with a corresponding "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Cur rentVersion\Run" entry.
It was installed by a flash card reader driver setup utility. In my case it was for a Mitsumi 7-in-1 Combo card reader. A Google search of the driver "UISDMCxxx" revealed other brands use a similar driver.
I confirmed this in two ways.
1. The time of creation was within seconds of the creation of all the other files the card reader's install created. (That's how I tracked it down)
2. In the folder the install created there is a file "setup.inx". When opened with notepad it contains registry setup strings including a bunch for "shico" including "shicome.exe!",""shico.exe!" and "shicoxp.exe! ”
The setup file was created by Stirling Technologies, Ltd. It apparently adds drive icons in Windows explorer. It references icon files "CFICO.ICO" and "COMBOICO.ICO" among others which are the icons for the two drive letters that the combo drive creates for the card reader slots. It also creates an entry "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\CarryIco" which has paths to those icon files. I confirmed this by removing the '"Run" startup entry and renaming shico.exe. After rebooting the system found the "drives" but they had the generic Windows drive icons instead of the colorful card slot icons. My guess is SHICO stands for Stirling Hardrive Icon.
If you are like me and want the drive icons but don't want extra processes running to get them you can create a registry entry to do the same thing. "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Cur rentVersion\Explorer\DriveIcons\K\DefaultIcon" In the DefaultIcon key, right click the default data entry, select modify and add the full path to the icon file.
("K" is the drive letter, yours may differ)

Thank you very much for this useful information. So apparantly shico.exe is not spyware.
