Libertarian and Green party presidential candidates arrested

Im surprised that this hasn't been posted about yet. The Libertarian and Green party presidential candidiates were arrested after forcing themselves past a police barricade at the second presidential debate. Obviously they're just trying to draw attention to themselves, and I don't rightly blame them, but what I find most odd about it is that virtually no major news sources have carried anything about this story.

    Discuss/bicker/ away as you will.

    Whats to discuss?

They dont have money, so their voices are not allowed to be heard. When it comes to politics, money talks...everything else is meaningless.

I'm actually more interested in how CNN, MSNBC, and other mainstream media outlets don't have a single world about this incident. The only sources I've seen carry anything about it are slashdot, npr, and sites associated with either the Green or Lib parties.

Just to clarify,.. are you saying Nader has been arrested? Man,.. I tell ya,.. talk about our rights being stripped away. Free speech is fading. I'd like to know more details about this one.

It's a sad state of affairs, isn't it...

I'm with both of them. Invade the debates! Offer America some viable options!

I think that the sad point here is the "power" of the media. THAT is indeed sad.

David Cobb is the Green party candidate, actually. He, along with Michael Badnarik, the Libertarian party candidiate, were arrested and released later that night. I first learned about it at Slashdot. The only site I've found with details is a Badnarik site so obviousy it's going to be biased, but it's the best I've found right now. Try searching a site like www.cnn.com or www.msnbc.com for etiher of these candidates. Very little if anything about the two candidates at all, and not a word on the arrest.

I second this. I've talked to many people after the debates and many were not satisfied with either candidate's performance. They wished their were other options to choose from and are almost shocked to hear there are.

Bah, those two candidates aren't news, so this isn't news, who cares.

I actually find this very disturbing. The national media would probably do a huge story if Britney Spears broke a fingernail, but not a peep when 2 presidential candidates get themselves arrested ?

That in a nutshell is the issue here. Our media is getting worse and worse.

Will these two guys combined get as many votes as Nader will?
Combine these two with Nader, will they get near as many as Perot got?

If not, then they don't matter, it isn't news worthy

It does matter and it is newsworthy because they are presidential candidates. As to them getting arrested, they knew you can't barge into anywhere where the President of the USA is. It's an obvious political ploy top call attention to the fact that alternatives to the D & R does exist.

Whether or not it's newsworthy to those who are wondering if britney broke another nail is irrelivant. The media has a duty of sorts to report this sort of thng and they are failing.

They knowingly got arrested just to get airtime, and you are saying that they are worthy to be president and the media is to blame for not pandering to their pathetic attempt to get exposure?

Sorry, run a good campaign and raise the money to get media time the proper way. Don't break the law.

They did get proper media time...anyone watch the 3rd-party candidate's debate on CSPAN last Friday? It was amazing, not one mention of the word "Halliburton", or Iraq.

They were willing to field questions that seemed unscripted, and gave concise and surprisingly intelligent answers, unlike the two major candidates.

The streaming video of is is still available on CSPAN's website.
