Neighbors from the north (canadians) please help
My wife and I are considering a road trip to niagra falls or toronto for her birthday coming up at the end of october for a couple of days. Found some cheap hotels both in and around niagra and toronto, but need some insight on some other things to check out while we are up there.
we would like to not to spend a whole lot of money since it's just a short getaway and though money isn't super tight, we're not rolling in it either. any and all help would be appreciated.

The wax museum was something I still remember years after.
I'll post back when I get in to the office and have a chance to look some stuff up for you.

Adept, you mean the criminals hall of fame wax museum?
weird 'cuz I was thinking the same thing
I've never been, but a friend from buffalo sent me a postcard from there once, and I've earmarked it for the next trip that way.

We went up there in the end of June this year and went on the Maid of the Mist, that was very cool. We also went underneath the falls, it was ok, but not worth the money in my book. Did that one more for my son than anything. There's also a neat place you can go to eat that has seating outside where your overlooking the falls that was neat, we spent alot of time up there, had lunch and dinner both there. Spent alot of time just walking along the walkway and taking pictures. We didn't spend a fortune while there, the 2 things mentioned above where the only "touristy" type things we did.
Have a great time! I loved it up there!

You and your wife alone, hotel room, room service, what else do you need to spend on?

Hey I hear ya man. I'm perfectly happy sleeping and lounging around and doing "whatever" all day long. . . . . but
though my wife also doesn't mind lazy days, I know she's looking to get "out and about" if we go and wouldn't be happy staying in the whole time.
she'd really like to go to NYC (she's never been) but it's a little cost prohibitive for us. the cheapest package I can find with hotel and flight is $700 for both of us. which aint bad, but that's just to get there and doesn't count the money we'd spend while we were there.
so I figured toronto is also a big city and has lots of cool things to see and it's only about a 5 -5:30 hour drive, so why not. just don't know what to do once we are there.

there is always the niagra valley wine tours, although this may not be the ideal time to take one of those. You'll be surprised how easy it is to waste most of the day just walking on the boardwalks around the falls. And for cheap and different, there is an authentic italian pizza parlor very close to the falls i wish i could remember the name, it has an authentica wood fueled stone oven. best pizza ever.

Yep, we wasted a huge chunk of the day just walking around. I loved listening to the falls, was hoping to find one of those cd's of the sounds while I was there, but didn't find anything good.
We didn't try the Italian place, but I know what your talking about...My father-in-law said its great!
I wanna go up there again sometime for a few days, rather than just the one we went for this year! Weather was beautiful when we were there...in the 70s the whole time!

The time I went it wasn't dedicated to criminals, I don't think... that was a while ago but it's definitely worth a look. Very realistic renditions.
