[RESOLVED] Not A Problem Just A Tweak That I Would Like

Hi!

I am a very happy Win98SE user and I was just wondering if you could display the IE5 splash screen before it loads up.

Please Tell me a tweak that will enable me to do this. I am willing to edit the registry so thats not a problem

why would you want to display a splash screen for IE5 .. or anything for that matter i always tun those things off wastes time on loading up the program

Tsk, tsk, jvaguy...he didn't ask for your opinion, he asked for a solution to a specific problem. Besides, unless your 'puter is a serious POS, the extra clocks it takes to display the splash screen during a program launch probably won't be missed.

Winfan, assuming that you are comfortable with editing your registry and taken the prescribed precautions before doing so, fire up Regedit and drill down to this key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Int ernet Explorer\Infodelivery\Restrictions

In the righthand pane, change the value of the "NoSplash" DWORD value to "0", close Regedit, and restart. Now your beloved splash screen will adorn your monitor everytime you start IE.

Any Solutions Or Should I Just Upgrade To IE 5.5?

I tried the registry key mentioned above and there was no reference to it on my computers

Does Anybody Know How To Get The IE5(.5) Splash Screen In Windows 98/Windows 98 Second Edition???

For IE 4.0 you could try finding something on www.regedit.com or better still you could use Xsetup from www.xteq.com. It has many such fancy looking tweaks (in form of plugins available at their page) which you can also record by using their Camera mode. It's completely free !!

Mind well it's a double edged knife. In a surgeons hand is good but not in somebody else's. Use it quite carefully.
