I am looking for a Vidar Medical Scanner Twain Driver
I have tried their website and the driver .exe just doesn't work. I am able to set the Twain in Photoshop, but when I go to use it, it doesn't see the scanner. WHen I check the scanner group in the control panel, there is nothing listed. When I reboot the system it tries to install the hardware, but I need the drivers to complete.
Anyone?
BTW, Windows 2000 machine

Is this scanner scsi? Make sure that you have set it to terminate the scsi chain. The scanner needs to be connected and turned on when windows boots or it will not be detected.
Scsi twain scanners frequently do not have a traditional driver. Try this, when windows detects the device, manually select "unsupported device" as the driver. Then install the scanner software. Keep in mind, it will not show up as a scanner in control panel or device manager.

Thanks, I found this out during my troubleshooting. Yes it is a SCSI, the Twain software I was trying to install was not valid. The correct one was already on the c: drive. I didn't know this until I just started to browse around.
I finally got it up. The strange thing was that upon reboot the scsi utility did not see it so I couldn't get access to it. I turned off the PC, then turned off the scanner for a minute. Turned on the scanner, then the PC, the scsi utility saw it and now it is working.
This was around a 5 hour ordeal. I am glad to be done it.

New VIDAR TWAIN for download
Hi,
VIDAR's own drivers are reported to have some drawbacks and are usually not considered to be working too good. Also, they are not fully TWAIN compliant.
When it comes to digitizing x-rays, I'd rather go for an alternative driver. There's a rather new one which has its website at www.x-twain.com You can download a trial version from the site and if you like it, you can easily register online.
Actually the newer VIDAR Medical scanners in Europe get shipped directly with X-TWAIN instead of the VIDAR twain driver.
Hope that helps.
