Bangladeshi immigrant put himself in the driver's seat by paying a record $360,000 at a city auction on Monday for a New York taxi medallion, which is required by the city to own a taxicab. Most cabdrivers in the city work for taxi fleets or lease time from a medallion owner.

We had a similar, although totally different, incident right here in San Antonio. A couple was having a rough and tumble round of role playing. The woman dialed 911 on a cell phone and screamed 'rape'. The cops were searching the area for over an hour, even had a helicopter out. They got a fricken' huge fine. After all, they did it intentionally.

And thats just the individual medallions (restricted to use by their owners). Corporate medallion go for twice that. Its a supply and demand thing - there are only about 12,000, and this is only the second time they've added any since 1937.
