Active Desktop
Our change over to a LAN connection for internet has removed Active Desktop. The host still has it but the clients do not have the option. Why?!

By "host", do you imply "server"?
It may be that the LAN clients are receiving system policies from the server.
If that's not the case, can you add more details?

if you moved to a domain it is possible you are using Profiles - each profile has it's own settings..
