    Dial-up vs Broadband -- I hate '98

    Here's my problem:

    I have a USB NIC card installed on this really old Toshiba laptop. I try to open Internet Explorer to surf the 'net, and it brings up this stupid MSN Internet Connection Wizard, telling me that I have to install a modem. o_O

    I can ping my gateway/router, I can ping internet sites, I can ping other computers on the network; I just can't bloody get to the Internet because of this accursed MSN Dial-up crap.

    How do I disable this? It's been so long since I've run Windows 98se that I can't remember how (or even if it was a problem before).

    Thanks,

    <MG>

    Glad you figured it out. The internet properties page in Control Panel is the easiest way to fix that.

    USB NIC is one of the handiest tools in my repair kit.
